Back, I'm back!

For almost a year now I haven't posted. Reasons are not important as they go under the 'excuses' clause. It is a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Gotham, the sun is shining and the air feels clean and crisp, about time for a renewal.
During the last two weeks R and I had a major crisis. All the elements of a high caliber drama were there: sex, jealousy, love, career, life, even kids somehow got involved (future kids my dear reader). We had to make a decision and we chose to re-choose our life together. We experimented in the danger zone, broke our own rules by inviting an outsider to our bed who happened to live near by (a big no no for us so far) and had to live with the consequences. We fell apart then glued ourselves together again. This crisis was by far our worst, but we came out clean, sober, and more mature in our love. A new life together based on new axioms was born.

The visit of the Iranian mongrel president to New York is not over yet. Using the podium at Columbia university he declared to the world that there are no gays in Iran. Having met some flamboyant ex-Persians in the raunchier bars of this fair city I went looking for some counter-evidence. Gay Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is not a big town. In world standards it's about the size of Amsterdam. A few miles of streets and parks on the Mediterranean coast. It is however the nightlife queen of Israel which automatically makes it the biggest fun place in the Middle East. There is no "gay area" like Chelsea in New York or the Castro in San Francisco. Gay guys and gals are just about everywhere. Walking down the streets you get curious looks from interested fellows. Night time is better. I once had a traffic warden pick me up on the street at 1 AM. How user friendly. As bars and clubs are concerned situation is the same. Few gay bars, hardly any exclusively gay club. The scene is mixed. Men cuddle each other in almost every party and every bar. It makes things confusing sometimes. The average apartment building in the city center will have at least one gay couple, usually more, and if you spend enough time living here you end up having a detailed personal map of ex-lovers and one-nighters

Craigslist Scams

Craiglist is the best resource that a newly arrived New Yorker needs. First to find a place to put your weary head at night, then to find stuff to make the bare carpets more hospitable. Scanning the hundreds of daily adds provide a bizarre kind of entertainment and allows to find real bargains on almost everything. Apartments, desks, TVs or Iguanas. Its all there. I found my apartment this way, I also found all the furniture and appliances for ridiculous prices. How about doing it all at under 1000$? Cool. But I also came across some shameless scams that can leave the unsuspected naive with no money and a returned email. The first scam was actually very amusing. A 1 Br apartment in Chelsea, the nicest and gayest part of town, for 1500 $. Nice. I was striking gold here! The story got interesting when the person who responded to my add claimed to be a women living currently in Greece hence not able to show me the place, only photos.
